MTHFR Basic States are an idea that generates a lot of controversy. Some well-respected practitioners don't like to use the idea at all, and some do. So let's talk through Basic States and I'll tell you why I think Basic States are a great concept that is really useful when you're working with MTHFR. We'll talk about

• Where the idea of basic states came from
• Why I don't like the terms "undermethylation" and "overmethylation"
• The risks of paying attention to gene SNPs but not basic state - especially when you aren't working with a practitioner.
