On this episode of Film is Lit, Laura and Danny discuss the film that ALMOST took home the 2006 Best Picture Oscar, Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain," based on the 1997 tragic love short story of the same name, written by Annie Proulx. The hosts talk about everything from gay representation in film, to toxic masculinity, to the beautiful landscape of Wyoming (or in the movie's case, Alberta, lolz). While the adapted screenplay by Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana managed to take home an Oscar, the two all-timer performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger were sadly snubbed. What an OUTRAGE!
