So I have brought back this topic until we close out 2019 with a bang and to give more tips and hints on how to speak effectively in interviews.
Your voice is crucial to the first impression you make in an interview.
Some people can be very self-conscious of the way they speak particularly if you got English as a second foreign language. It might be that you speak English with a twang or an accent that not everybody can understand on the first go. Then you might try to mask it and you don't really sound like yourself at all and you sound more like a weirdo then yourself. Your voice is unique as your thumbprint and it makes you who you are, so rather than mumble or trying to disguise your voice because of your accent, just embrace who you are.
I think rather than worry about “does your accent sound like x,y and z.” Focus on sharing your knowledge, skills and expertise that got you booked for the interview it doesn't matter what accent you are using to speak English with. Just speak, clearly and a little slower than usual so your interviewers can clearly understand what you are saying.
I think what helps in an interview is to think first and then answer. Also speaking a slower version of your normal speaking voice is key as it gives the interviewers ears a chance to adjust. They are probably trying to work out how you're saying things as you go along.
