The second episode of Black History Month's audio series dives deep into the division amongst African-Americans. Black History Month, a month revered for celebrating the historical feats achieved by luminous black figures, is the norm and should continue to be so. Besides reverting to our past in terms of victory, one rarely discussed element is the shadowy element of division. How peculiar or prominent differences between us created groups, affirmations rooted in separatism. Concepts discussed include 'House' vs 'Field' Negro, and its ideological position has remained throughout decades through different eras. Colorism, amongst issues concerning complexion and the complex dynamic that has caused in the race. How does a race overcome its internal struggles? One must admit that are issues and that the division has been a key yet hidden variable in the plight of problems facing African-Americans today. If you are not aware, there is a civil war going on between African-Americans, no one may address it or be cognizant of its influence, but we all partake in it, one way or another.
