Description

It’s an auto-response. We were taught at an early age. I’m sure we can all remember this from our first English classes, that “I’m good” is a courteous way to answer the question, “How are you?”  These words are a part of us that is preprogrammed. It's like being on auto-pilot---we don’t have to think about it long, we almost always say it instantly. What this “polite'' response does though, it blocks us from understanding ourselves and others. When we constantly repeat over and over, “I’m good” we miss the chance to respond with truth and confidence. The phrase is perfect to help us to build up the walls that guard our hearts against pain. But if we work to answer honestly it could change our perspective about connection.
