Our Lady of Penrhys is similar to other Black Madonnas in that the original image was discovered in a tree and she was destroyed in the era of the Reformation. Associated with a healing well, her inspiration never was erased, and several copies as well as a shrine exist to the day. Our Lady is part of a Marian Pilgrimage throughout Wales.
