Andrew Fernandez joins us Toniiiiiiight in THA Schtudio as we dive into his exclusive business Mankind Co. at 49 Cumberland Street (located with Velvet Rope Floral ) here in Thunder Bay and know all about men's grooming and lifestyle from the sharply dressed man himself.
Andrew was always fond of sports and also played professional hockey for his college team before he had made a decision due to an shoulder injury and choose instead to study Health and Fitness Management at Northern Michigan.
That brought out his passion for fitness as a lifestyle and he hasn't looked back ever since.
He also shared a really interesting story of attending the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles concert at Fort William Gardens and also mentioned that he still has Michaelangelo's bandana with him.
Andrew started with including some men's products in his sister's floral store at Goods & Co. initially and looking at the overwhelming response and demand, he decided to rent out a small space for 7 weeks before moving out to Cumberland Street and starting his own store. He focuses on collaborating with small businesses and brings attention to niche products rather than selling generic products in his store because he believes it is always these local products that contribute to the community and work better than name-brands.
Andrew also shared an extremely heartfelt story of his grandfather who was a national boxing champion at the time and his struggles during the Spanish Civil War and his father's journey thereon to Germany, Iceland and finally to Toronto, check out the episode to know the full story.
