Emily Kerton with Science North NorthWest, Thunder Bay joins us toniiiiiiiight in THA schtudio to talk about living a zero-waste lifestyle, eliminating single-use plastics and being aware of the impact we have on our environment. Emily Kerton has tremendous experience in the scientific community especially with Science North where she was one of the only people initially in Northwest Ontario for their outreach program and now organizes the Thunder Bay Science Festival.
Emily also talks about studies that are being conducted wherein micro-plastics were found in Lake Superior and the negative effects it has on the marine ecosystem and residents of the town as a result of pollution. She talked about three big resolutions she has made to reduce environmental impact that includes carrying a travel mug for her coffee, not buying grapes sold in plastic bags and avoiding personal trips where she would have to fly over the ocean.
Emily shared some interesting and astonishing scientific facts about our daily lifestyles and enlightened us with guidance on how to be aware about the waste we create, reducing and reusing wherever possible.
