QRP "Monty" Monteith | Furniture Repair & Upholstery Service | 361 | thamichaelated
Q.R.P 'Monty' Monteith joins us Toniiiiiiiight in THA Schtudio for an absolutely fascinating conversation ranging from mid-century furniture to antique chairs from the 18th century that he refurbishes in his workshop in Neebing Township.
Monty was always mesmerized and curious about articles and furniture as a kid when he visited local antique stores with his mom and it sparked a passion and love for restoring furniture and giving it a second life. He trained to be a welder but in early 2020 decided to establish his upholstery business from home and ever since has been making outstanding restorations to chairs, couches, cushions and also works on car interiors and ATVs/snowmobiles.
Monty also shared that modern furniture nowadays is designed to be thrown away and hence people get a steal deal because companies want you to keep changing your furniture after a few years instead of repairing or restoring it. He exhibits an intense passion and believes that every furniture tells a story about the person who owns it and the time-period it belongs to and he can never get tired of talking to his furniture while restoring it.
Monty has a very interesting dream project in the works where he wants to design and make his own furniture and utilize local artists in the process too, check out the episode to find out more about his dedication and passion towards his craft.
