What if I told you that throughout 2020-2021, there was a band that safety played stadium shows while we were all locked in our homes? You’d probably ask “was this was in New Zealand?” and I’d reply with “Yes, duh” but the important bit is the band at the center of that; Six60. They’re homegrown heroes who’ve ascended to stadium status by writing authentic songs that have won the hearts of people worldwide. To be a Six60 fan is to feel as though you’re part of a loving tribe that’s got your back. That sense of whānau (family in māori) means everything to the band and on today’s podcast, I chat with frontman Matiu Walters to figure out why.
If you’re listening in the UK and Europe, you’ll be able to catch Six60 live in a few week's time. Their tour kicks off in Paris on November 18th and they’ll be in that part of the world up to December 4th when the tour ends with a massive show at Brixton Academy in London. Don’t miss out!
