Lily Burke is a New York university student who currently speaks 6 languages! Lily was born in China but was adopted by an American family and is currently studying Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Indonesian, and Cantonese. She is also one of our Mandarin translators here at Polyglot Perspective.
In this episode, we discuss the challenges that multicultural students deal with on a daily basis, particularly in terms of discovering and staying in touch with their cultural identity. We also talk about the misconceptions that Lily, and other adoptees, face, and how to best approach them, as well as some of our favorite methods to learn languages whilst also having fun. This episode highlights Lily's story through her perspective, the polyglot perspective.
