As humans, we are programmed to enjoy eating. Food = pleasure, lighting up reward centers in our brains to keep us from starving to death. This is a good thing. You are definitely not broken for finding eating pleasurable!
But an interesting thing happens when we tell ourselves we "shouldn't" have a certain food. Our expectations get blown out of proportion and often we find that resisting that food is a monumental task. Then when said food is available, we go hog wild, telling ourselves we better eat as much of this delicious, off-limits fare as possible NOW because tomorrow we'll be "good" again. And the cycle will repeat when that food is again presented to us down the road...because the story we've told ourselves is that we should never turn down a desirable treat.
This might blow your mind, but what if that always-delicious, never-declined dish was actually not all that great? What if your anticipated favorite food in the world on occasion just didn't measure up? If we've piqued your curiosity, listen in as we discuss when food is disappointing. It might forever change your relationship with food.
