This week, we are joined by Chase Barnes to talk about being Black and a fan of...pretty much anything. We talk about feeling a sense of guilt for enjoying different types of entertainment that uplift systems that notoriously harm Black people, including police procedural TV shows, medical dramas, different artists that have rocky histories with race, like Justin Bieber, and other parts of society that tend to advance systems of white supremacy. We also talk about being younger and having to reconcile with the fact that race is a big part of how we see the world and how the world sees us, and how we approach becoming fans of certain celebrities/forms of entertainment, and being a part of fandoms that might not think that Black Lives Matter.
