On this weeks episode, I sat down and spoke to the founder of SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY Mitch McPherson! SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY works to promote positive mental health and prevent suicide by normalising conversations about mental health and encouraging people to seek help when they need it. Mitch has played a major role around educating on only Tasmania’s but several others around the country of the importance of checking in on not only your mates but most importantly yourself.
Mitch along with his staff at SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY have held over 600 talks around mental health and suicide prevention within schools, sporting clubs and business big or small around the country! As Mitch explains throughout our chat SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY wasn’t an organisation he wishes he ever had to make but at the same time is extremely proud of how far it has come!
Mitch and I spoke about the unfortunate passing of his brother, finding his purpose in life, the ups and downs that come with creating a charity and so much more! I hope you enjoy listing to Mitches amazing story as much as I did! If you’d like to hear a little more about Mitches story and how the passing of his brother impacted not only his life but those around him make sure you go and grab yourself a copy of his book ‘ Behind the smile.
