We kick off Episode 6 of Season 2 with a DOOZY – the topic of IDOLATRY. Why is it a “doozy”? Because if we’re being honest with ourselves, ALL OF US (including us, too, at Deeper In The Word”!) are guilty of engaging in it, in some form or another. But what IS idolatry? Well, for those of you who think it’s ONLY related to Old Testament passages about worshipping other gods…..that’s only PART of it. Because as this episode points out, the concept of “idolatry” involves much more than graven images. Come join the discussion that includes both the working and biblical definitions of idols and idolatry; an analysis of why it’s OKAY for God to be jealous, but not us; why your kids dressing like that rapper they like might be problematic; that time when the REAL God told people to kill their family members for worshipping FALSE gods; and how doing things like overeating or working too many hours makes us just as bad as the Israelites.
