Frédéric Devreese was born in 1929 in Belgium to composer and conductor Godfried Devreese. According to Naxos, “Following in the footsteps of his father, who conducted music for silent movies, entered the world of film music, and wrote 40 scores.”
He is known for his orchestral compositions, as well as his family music. He died in 2020 of cancer at the age of 91.
Today we look at two pieces of Devreese, The Benvenuta Suite, 1984, and Ostinati for Alto Saxophone and Piano, 1998.
