In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing A CHRISTMAS STORY (1983) which is currently streaming on HBO Max but you can probably find it on 24-hour rotation on TBS & TNT. The film is directed by Bob Clark from a screenplay by Leigh Brown and based on the book by Jean Shepherd, "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash". The story follows the trials and tribulations of young Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) as he tries to navigate the treacherous landscape of school, avoid bullies, solve the Orphan Annie mystery and be on the nice list so Santa can bring him a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun, which everyone assumes will only cause him to shoot his eye out. The film is narrated by Jean Shepherd and is a Norman Rockwell painting in film form and highly entertaining holiday treat for young and old. The film is rated PG and clocks in at 1 h 33 m. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
