In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing ELEMENTAL (2023), which we caught on Disney+. Written by John Hoberg, Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh; the film is directed by Peter Sohn. The film follows Ember (Leah Lewis) a resident of Element City where fire/water/earth and air live together. Her parents came from abroad for a better life for themselves and their baby to be (Ember). She grows up healthy and happy and as she reaches maturity is on the path to inherit her father's business, a busy little general store that services the neighborhood. We come to know that Ember has a short fuse but as the story progresses we find out exactly why that is. When Wade (Mamoudou Athie) comes into her life, Ember realizes she has to be more authentic and true to herself in order to live her best life. The film clocks in at 1 h and 41 m and is rated PG.
