In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing FLEE (2021), currently streaming on Hulu. The film tells the story of Amin Nawabi who recounts his time as a young child in Afghanistan and how his family soon finds themselves in danger and begin an exodus out of the country. The wind up in Moscow where their situation goes from bad to worse and in order to survive the family must fracture itself. Universal themes are addressed and painfully recounted as an older Amin must come to terms with his past in order to move onto a better future. The film is currently nominated for 3 Academy Awards (Best Documentary Feature, Best Animated Feature and Best International Feature Film - Denmark) and is directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, with writing credits to Jonas Poher Rasmussen and Amin Nawabi. The film has a run time of 1 h 29 m and is rated PG-13. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
