After her youthful ambitions are sidelined by life, Turquoise (Nicole Beharie), a hardworking single mom pushes her daughter, Kai (Alexis Chikaeze), to compete in the same beauty pageant she herself won as a teen in the hopes that her daughter fulfills her dreams via opportunities created by the event.
