On the twentieth night of our #31DaysToHalloween the Mister joins me in reviewing PRESENCE (2024), written by David Koepp, the film is directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film is shot entirely from the point of view of an unseen entity, which observes a dysfunctional family—a mother, father, and two teenage children—after they move into a new suburban house. As tensions and secrets within the family escalate, the "Presence" begins to interact with its surroundings, seemingly acting as a protective force, particularly toward the troubled daughter, Chloe (Callina Liang). A final, shocking act of intervention reveals the true, heartbreaking identity of the entity and the profound sacrifice made to save a life. The film clocks in at 1 h and 24 m, is rated R and we caught the film on Hulu but you can also buy/rent it on Prime Video. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
