Description

In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing STRANGE WORLD (2022) which is currently available on Disney+.  With a screenplay by Qui Nguyen and directed by Don Hall (co-directed by Qui Nguyen) the film tells the story of the Clades - Jaeger (Dennis Quaid), Searcher (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Ethan (Jaboukie Young-White).  Following his father, Jaeger, on an expedition, Searcher returns home after terrible weather conditions stall the team but Jaeger presses on because the explorer in him must see the adventure through.  Twenty five years later, Searcher has carved out a great legacy for himself and is sort of guiding his son, Ethan, on a similar path.  However this isn't what Ethan wants.  When the mystery plant that gave Searcher his rise to fame starts to die, Searcher is tasked into joining an expedition to see if they can figure out whats wrong and how to save the plant which gives their world electricity and in the end, Searcher rediscovers his Dad and gains a better understanding of his son.  Great voice performances by the entire cast, addressing interesting themes and a solid script make this a MUST WATCH.  The film is rated PG and clocks in at 1 h 42 m.  Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
