Description

In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing THE GOONIES (1985), which is currently streaming on HBO Max.  The film, directed by Richard Donner with a screenplay credit to Chris Columbus and a story credit to Steven Spielberg, the story follows Mikey (Sean Astin) and his buddies Mouth (Corey Feldman), Data (Ke Huy Quan) and Chunk (Jeff Cohen) as they go on one last crazy adventure to try and find the treasure of Pirate One-Eyed Willy and save their little seaside Oregon town from developers.  The film also stars 80s staples Josh Brolin, as Mikey's older brother, Brand; Kerri Green (Andy) and Martha Plimpton (Steph) as Astoria's rag tag saviors.  Along the way they also encounter more trouble when they face off against the Fratelli's (Robert Davi/Joe Pantoliano/Anne Ramsey) but encounter an ally from an unlikely source (John Matuszak as Sloth).  The film is still a delight, even after thirty seven years and is the absolute definition of a Friday family film the entire family can enjoy together.  The film has a run time of 1 h 54 m, and is rated PG, although there is mild cursing. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.

This episode of the podcast is dedicated to the lovely Rashema on the eve of her born day - may an abundance of blessings always find their way to your door dear friend. XO
