In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing THE SUICIDE SQUAD (2021), currently streaming on HBO Max. Written and directed by James Gunn, the film follows the adventures of a ragtag group of supervillains tasked with saving the world or else from tough as nails and completely unlikable Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). On this particular job, the team which brings back Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) heading a group of crazies who must go on a suicide mission to Corto Maltese to stop what could be a weapon that will destroy the planet. Will the squad come together to save the day or will egos and personalities lead to the squad's self destruction? Stand out performances by all the characters with special nods to Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher2), Idris Elba (Bloodsport), John Cena (Peacemaker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man) and an unrecognizable Sly Stallone. The film is rated R and the run time is 2 h 12 m. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
