In which the Mister joins me in reviewing VENUS (2017), which is currently streaming on Tubi. The film is written and directed by Eisha Marjara, and follows Sid (Debargo Sanyal) who is transitioning and discovers she's the mother of a teen boy. Along the way, Sid also has to navigate her traditional Indian mother and a boyfriend who is self loathing and deep in the closet. The strength in the story is educating the viewer to Sid's POV and a good ensemble and decent script achieve that goal. In the month of Pride, a welcome addition to the diversity of stories and one that focuses on bringing trans characters to the forefront. The film has a run time of 1 h 35 m and is rated TV-14.
