Description

In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing WINGWOMEN (2023), which you can find for streaming on Netflix.  Directed by Mélanie Laurent, from a script by Mélanie Laurent, Christophe Deslandes and Cédric Anger; the film is based off the comic, "La Grande Odalisque," from comic creators Jérôme Mulot, Florent Ruppert and Bastien Vivès.  Much like the comic, the film focuses on Carole (played by Laurent) and Alex (Adèle Exarchopoulos), 2 thieves with a long history who've grown tired of the game and want to get out.  They go to speak with their boss, the Godmother (Isabelle Adjani) who is not pleased to lose her best team and in particular, Carole.  Carole wants out for reasons made clear early in the story but they agree to one last job and recruit Sam (Manon Bresch) to help them on their last score.  This film clocks in at 1 h and 56 m and is rated TV-MA.  Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
