Description

To say that Austin's Jackie Venson has been blowing up lately would be an understatement. The coolest part is she's done it all on her own—that is to say, independently and without the help of a label or record deal. Venson released five (yes, 5!) albums last year, including "Live in Texas" and "Vintage Machine; her fan base has been growing exponentially; and it seems like she's loving every minute of it. (She also has some of the best metaphors and you'll have the pleasure of hearing some in this episode.)

Through frequent multi-platform streaming and steady Bandcamp sales, Venson talks candidly about how she's been able to thrive as a musician, despite the pandemic and in spite of the "industry." We also talked about her alter ego, jackie the robot, and the journey that led her to write "Vintage Machine," her sophomore studio LP.
