This week Julie and Chrissa are joined by Nesha Benton, a Heart and Solutions counselor. Before pursuing a career in the mental health field, Nesha served as a 911 dispatcher. She personally experienced and witnessed how consistent trauma exposure, burnout and compassion fatigue impacted her own mental health and the mental health of the dispatchers, officers, EMS personnel, and firemen that she worked with. Her passion and reason for becoming a counselor is to help end the stigma of seeking mental health care in the Public Safety community and to better the quality of life for those who are constantly risking their lives for others.
