This might just be my favorite chapter in The Relevant Old Testament!! I love the message of Saul and David's story.

Saul was not a bad guy, just like there are so many of us who aren't "bad people," but our relationship with Jesus is very much at a surface level. We might get heavily into our religion for a while, into our church, into outreach programs, etc., and those things are great, but if we aren't digging down deep into the pit of our hearts and revealing them to God as a form of surrender, then we are like Saul.
