Christian Zionism: What God's word says about it.
What does God's word say about it?
You will learn what the Bible says about it for us today. When Jesus went to his hometown of Nazareth, he read from the Prophet Isaiah and read: "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD anointed me To bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD..." He stopped right there and rolled up the scroll, handed it to the attendant, and then said, "Today, in your hearing, these scriptures are fulfilled". But he stopped mid scripture! What does the rest of it say? It says: And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.
You see the word "Zion" in that scripture. God is into Zion and he has a plan to defend Israel.
Many modern Christian scholars disagree with this and they over intellectualize the scriptures. They say, "What it really means is..." But we must not be over allegorical about the scriptures but read them in the grammatical historical manner.
