From the artist:
My artist name is Michael Thomas White. I’m 27 years old and graduated from Northwestern University, where I majored in economics. I live in NYC and started making music when I left my first corporate job at PricewaterhouseCoopers after 2 years working there to build a watch company in Bali with my co-founder (wallacewhiteco.com and sells on Amazon.com).
My dad is an amazing guitar player and played in 80’s cover bands when I was growing up. I play the acoustic guitar fairly well. My focus as a kid was sports, particularly hockey and basketball. I played varsity basketball where I was raised in Columbus, Ohio. I also was a basketball practice player at Northwestern University for the women’s team and later for the WNBA when I first moved to NYC.
After Bali to start the watch company, I lived in Sweden for 6 months to record an EP with a talented producer who graduated from Berklee. We made songs like “Dancing in The Kitchen” and “One of a Kind”, which have been huge successes as first releases. Dancing In The Kitchen became a viral Tik Tok dance and One of a Kind surpassed 100k Spotify streams.
After recording the debut EP in Sweden, I moved to NYC two years ago to market my music. I’ve been able to quickly build a social media following. I often get recognized walking around Manhattan and I’ve performed well-attended, fun shows at iconic venues like the Bitter End. People have flown in from all over the country to be at my local shows.
My latest song "Red Light" was inspired by a breakup with a recent long-distance girlfriend in California. I filmed a music video in NYC. I’m super excited to take the next step in my artist journey and to be on Power 98.5 Satellite Radio!
