Last week we learned about Bernice Bing and this week we zoom out for a look at a social space she frequented. The circle of women abstract expressionists living and working in San Francisco experienced a dearth of national attention due to their great physical distance from New York. Also a direct result of that physical and financial distance, their creative practices were allowed much greater creative freedom.
