Description

In this episode, I am joined by Dr. John Kitchens MD. Dr. Kitchens is a world-renowned name in vitreoretinal surgery and has trained at top-ranked institutions such as the University of Iowa and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institue. He is a partner at Retina Associates of Kentucky, a private practice of 15 retina specialists. The practice participates in a joint vitreoretinal surgery fellowship with the University of Kentucky and has trained some of the best surgeons in the world.

We talk about Dr. Kitchens' formative experiences as a young college student who struggled in school, his fate encounter with finding his passion for retina, the difference in training experiences he had at the University of Iowa vs Bascom Palmer and why both approaches work, saying yes to opportunities such as the Vit-Buckle Society (VBS) to partner with people who are do-ers, and what he thinks makes a good presentation.
