In Psalm 12 David is looking at the moral state that his society was in. A godly man was hard to find, as the depth of depravity that was all around him was seen in the deceitful words that man spoke. Our society, that at least once recognized moral absolutes, is much like the society that David witnessed in his day, as we find our selves in the midst of a society that is in a moral free fall. Like David, we can see the depths of mankind's depravity in the deceitful words people say. But, also like David, we can trust in our God, who as oppose to our society, His faithfulness and purity can be seen in the purity of what He speaks. As we recognize that depths of depravity within our own hearts that God has saved us from, we must cry out to Him for safety in the midst of moral rot. He will keep up safe as we trust Him and pursue holiness.
