If you judge people, you have no time to love them. ~Mother Theresa
In this episode of Life, Lemons & LemonDrops hosts Greer and Whitnie are talking about judging and being judgmental. How can we be less judge-y? "Judgmental" is having or displaying an excessively critical point of view, often borne of the notion that we alone have the answers or the best approach. When others don't conform to how we think they should be or how we would be in their situation, we then are critical of what they do or don't do.
Two current hot-button issues are the increase in coronavirus cases & the continuing resistance to getting vaccinated and/or wearing a mask; and Simone Biles' withdrawal from the Olympic gymnastics team and all-around competitions. The sisters dissect both issues and our reactions to them.
One of our highest callings is to love one another. When we live in judgment of others, we do so without regard often to what they are going through. That separation is helping to create the divide many are saying permeates American culture. More collectivist cultures, because they are focused on what is best for the community and not the individual, find it easier to live up to the model set not only by Mother Theresa but Jesus Christ as well.
Following are a few more quotes to provide food for thought and hopefully some inspiration to be unaffected by others' judgment and to be, yourself, less judgmental and more loving:
"Be curious, not judgmental." ~Walt Whitman
"Never judge someone without knowing the whole story. You may think you understand but you don't." ~Anonymous
"Let them judge you. Let them misunderstand you. Let them gossip about you. Their opinions aren't your problem. You stay kind, committed to love, and free in your authenticity. No matter what they say or do, don't you dare doubt your worth or the beauty of your truth. Just keep on shining like you do." ~Scott Stabile
"People are quick to point out others' faults, but never quick to point out their own." ~Anonymous
