Sergio Duarte is a passionate public speaker and entrepreneur. To meet him, you might have the impression of a polite, educated and professional young man… But this wasn’t always the case.
Growing up in a marginalized neighborhood in Mexico, being surrounded by drug abuse and violent crime, a household sometimes lacking in stability, Sergio struggled to find his way.
Looking around, there were few role models available, and even though he wanted to be a good person, he found himself getting involved with the wrong kind of people, committing acts of vandalism and trying to make money by selling pirated material.
His life took a turn for the better when he got a lucky break. A rich family friend asked him to take care of their son with special needs. Sergio was astounded by this family which was willing to take a chance on him, and willing to give freely without expecting anything in return. He said to himself “I want to be like them,” and set out to achieve it.
