Welcome to the Summer of the Sermon! Each Sunday through the summer we are going to go through and dig in to the Sermon on the Mount and discover what exactly Jesus wants from us.
It is important we understand pursuing a relationship with Christ is the most important thing. That’s what we are doing. It is in that pursuit that we learn to love to follow the law. It’s not about how much we know or how strictly we can follow it, it is about following Jesus and how we can exceed what the law says. Jesus didn’t come and say, “OK, the law doesn’t count anymore.” In fact, he said quite the opposite. The law still counts. Doing what the law says is important. However, we can’t do what the law says, just because it says. It is when we do more than the law says that we gain status in the Kingdom of God.
