If they do, they sure have been stupid about it -- leading the fight to abolish slavery, overcoming the opposition of Democrats to amend the Constitution to protect African-American civil rights, overcoming the opposition of Democrats to pass civil rights legislation in the 1960s, appointing African-Americans to high-ranking positions in federal government, and now pursuing economic policies resulting in record employment numbers for African-Americans.
