James 3:13 – 18 8/07/22
13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.
PRAISE GOD
· You are a personal God and we can understand your ways
· You honor me when I live a life after your ways
· You are faithful to help me work through incongruencies
ASK GOD
· Reveal to me anything in my heart incongruent with your ways
· Give me courage to confront those things in myself
15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
PRAISE GOD
· Your wisdom far surpasses earthly or even demonic wisdom
· You are a God of order and righteousness
ASK GOD
· Help me recognize Godly wisdom and minimize earthly wisdom
· I yield my ambition, dreams, and desires to your will
17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
PRAISE GOD
· You are pure. You are Love. You are Holy and full of mercy
· You have equipped me to live within your attributes
ASK GOD
· Help me actively live each of these attributes in Godly wisdom
· Lead me to the good deeds you’ve planned for me to accomplish
18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
PRAISE GOD
· You are Jehovah Shalom – the Great Peacemaker
· You are actively planting seeds in my life
ASK GOD
· Make me a peacemaker to those around me
· Let the seeds you plant produce good fruit in due season
