As I walked down the street yesterday, my eyes were drawn to a jacket that a man in front of me was wearing that had the phrase printed boldly: "members only."
The history of belonging is as old as humanity.
And this history is flavored with exclusivity and gatekeeping that has normalized the marginalization of entire groups of people.
Many believe these scripts are so old that they don't affect our modern culture. But if you take a look around the world right now, you can see the power of their undercurrents, and how their energetic imprints play out in "everyday" reality, informing our unconscious assumptions and ways of relating to each other.
As Levi Strauss explained, myths are so powerful because they operate in our mind often without our awareness.
Their power to shape our experience largely lies in the realm of the unseen. This is the realm where authentic transformation work happens--which is at once individualized and collective.
Many people want to change the world, but aren't willing to accept the fact all change begins from within. Are you literally willing "to be" the change and not just talk about it.
