Description

Sam Fraley is a long snapper for Temple University’s D1 football team. Football has been a huge part of Sam’s life. A native-Texan, Sam moved to California and started playing football from a young age. After playing four years of high school football, Sam was preparing to move on to a new chapter in his life at UT Austin. A week before high school graduation, Sam went to the hospital and had been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre, a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves. Over the next six months, Sam spent day after day in the hospital and physical therapy. He relearned how to stand up, walk, and go about daily life. Sam enrolled at the local community college and started practicing with the football team again. He quickly went from relearning how to walk to playing on the field again, something his doctors never imagined. After two years at his local community college, Sam was recruited to play for Temple University where he currently resides. This is one of the most inspirational recovery stories I’ve ever heard and am honored to share it with you all.
In this episode, Sam breaks down his recovery over the past three years and describes his admirable mindset throughout the entire process. We hope you are inspired by Sam’s story!
