In today's episode I am joined with Jessica who is autistic and has ADHD too, Jessica was diagnosed with Autism in her late 30's so a adult diagnosis and a year alter received a diagnosis of ADHD. We discuss our diagnosis stories with one another. Jessica was a stand up comedian for a while before she was diagnosed with Autism, but says if he would ever go back into comedy again she tell stories of her life and share comedy look backs being autistic, like that's why i do that.
Jessica's day is leadership of development and training of mangers but on the side she does coaching where Jessica coaches autistic and Neurodivergent people so they can people mangers and leaders and Jessica does a lot of public speaking with different company's and provides recourses for people to have a better understanding and support which is hard to get and receive in this current era. We talk about speaking to leaders who can make a difference for the autistic community and wider out there! the truth is we just want to be listened to and understood.
We talk about how making friendships is hard Jessica shares her personal with making friendships, it's hard to make friends it's a real struggle, we speak about this in the episode. We also speak about experiences about getting bullied in school and not getting believed we say "The bullying pray on the vulnerable" it's really not nice to get bullied we both share experiences about that.
We also talk about say that interests lead to great friendships in the autistic community we learned from today's episode that Jessica really likes Doctor Who mutual interest and it's fantastic so many Neurodivergent people make friends and find themselves by watching/Doing things they love!
great advise from Jessica: Be you, do the things you love there are so many Neurodivergent people at Comic-Cons to meet the heroes we adore!
Thank you again Jessica, this was so much fun!
