Hey everyone! Thanks for clicking on to this episode!
We are SO stoked to bring you our chat with the amazing Barry Conrad, where we talked about paths pop industry vs. the music theatre industry, what it means to take risks as an actor, and Barry’s experiences with type casting and representation as a POC.
Barry is funny, kind, motivational and has such a great energy about him, and we’re sure you’ll love this ep just as much as we did!
A little bit about Barry: He’s had a multifaceted career spanning across music, screen and stage. Barry rose to public recognition when he was named as one of the Final 12 on Channel 7’s The X-Factor. He’s opened for the likes of Brian McKnight, Craig David and Eric Benet, and vocally produced and penned songs for an array of artists.
No stranger to screen, Barry landed a role on FOX’s Power Rangers: Ninja Storm and featured in numerous TV commercials, before taking his first leap to feature films in the #1 box office hit, The Sapphires. Barry’s musical accolades include Violet, Hairspray and Grease Arena Spectacular, Beautiful: the Carol King Musical and most recently MADIBA the musical. On the eve of 2020 Barry reached a new career milestone, landing a guest role as Kane Jones on Australia’s longest-running TV drama series, Neighbours.
Away from entertainment, he’s a proud ambassador for suicide-prevention charity R U OK?, and in 2020 has signed on as an ambassador for both Virgin Active Australia and Mitsubishi Australia.
