Every year, we hit the Cavendish Beach Music Festival with one goal: good music, good vibes, and maybe, just maybe, scoring a killer interview. This year, Strange Crew, we manifested it. We landed a chat with Cape Breton legends and hosts of Shoot'n The Shit — Tracey and Martina!
For the uninitiated, Tracey and Martina are two fun-loving besties from Cape Breton who specialize in finding the glitz in the grind. Their motto? "Savin' money, savin' time, for gettin' loaded." Enough said. Whether they’re crushing White Claws in a parking lot or sharing wisdom from their smoke breaks, they know how to live it up without breaking the bank.
We caught up with them at Cavendish to talk country music, Canadian queens, and social media strategy (of course!). The duo was buzzing about the chance to see Shania Twain live — a massive moment for Martina, considering one of her wedding songs was a Shania track.
They dished on everything from Shania’s iconic fashion evolution to how reasonably priced her merch is (bless). Plus , we spoke about the importance of putting Canadian talent front and center at Canadian Festivals (duh!)
Between sets and selfie ops, Tracey and Martina gave us a peek behind the curtain at how they approach social media. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of festival content, and probably a few Bud Lights.
Tune in to Vol. 172 to hear the whole convo, festival highlights, and why these two Cape Breton queens might be the ultimate hype duo Canada never knew it needed!
