In this series on healthcare and social disparities, Dr. Jill Wener, a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist, meditation expert, and tapping practitioner, interviews experts in multiple fields relating to social justice and anti-racism. In this episode, Jill interviews Patricia Ramirez Pinckney, founder of The U.S. Latino Cultural Competence Institute. They discuss how Latinos are no longer a niche market and are now seen as ambicultural, unifiers, and mainstream in the US. Patricia explains what we’re missing about cultural diversity in our own country. She highlights the importance of people feeling like themselves and being understood at work, in order to demonstrate unity and inclusiveness by example (and not just speaking about platitudes).
Patricia is also a co-founder of RIMA Strategy and Marketing, which provides C-level “big company” strategy to medium and growth-stage ventures. As a multicultural Latina fluent in English and Spanish, Patricia crosses cultural boundaries to effectively collaborate with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and mindsets. This ability, together with a solid quantitative base developed from years of analyzing data, serve as the foundation for successful acculturated strategies to reach multiple audiences in today’s multicultural markets.
