We simply talked about ‘Black & White Stereotypes.’ And a few different culture differences...like ‘Sweet Potato Pie & Pumpkin Pie.’ Or, ‘Black Don’t Crack.’
One comment from our Live from a White male had an interesting perspective: “I'm thinking that the Black stereotypes come from a place of racism and how white people chose to depict them, whereas the white stereotypes come from actual real qualities.” What is your take on that?
We like the definition we found from simple Wikipedia, “A stereotype is a mistaken idea or belief many people have about a thing or group that is based upon how they look on the outside, which may be untrue or only partly true. Stereotyping people is a type of prejudice because what is on the outside is a small part of who a person is.” As there can be some truth to it, it is mostly belief from a subjective perspective.
