Words are all around us all the time. They are in this description you're reading, this podcast episode, any other podcast episode, and much more. But why do words have so much meaning? I think it is clear the old mantra "sticks and stones will break my bones but your words will never hurt me" is not true, but what if the person said those things in Chinese? Or texted them? Or someone else said them? We often forget how much context plays a part in what our words mean. This is why there are so many misunderstandings. One person knows the words the other person is saying...but not what they're communicating.
