Segment 2
Introduction
Good morning and welcome, ‘This is, A New Day” and I am your host Eric Von Kimble and we are delighted that you have allowed us into your world on this day to encourage, challenge and love on you.
It is our desire to enhance your mornings with new episodes each and everyday.
What you just listened to was today’s excerpt from 366 Meditations of Wisdom, Perseverance and the Art of Living from the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday.
A stoic is defined a free from passion or unmoved by joy or grief and submissive to natural law. It is an indifference to pleasure or pain.
Bruce Lee said it best, you must be like water, highly adaptable.
Put it in to a cup, it becomes the cup
Put it into a bottle, it becomes the bottle
Put in a tea pot, it becomes the tea pot
Water can flow and it can crash
Be water my friend.
No matter where you may find yourself on today, be like water be adaptable.
External things are out of our control but what we can control is how we react to each event.
To become better equipped with facing the external challenges of life one can train the mind just as the muscles in the body….
Which is what today’s table topic is on today, so stay tuned because you don’t want to miss today’s lesson.
But first, we will have our moment of silence right after this break…
Segment 3
Moment of Silence
The moment of silence is reserved for prayer, meditation and can also be an exercise in gratitude and thankfulness.
Join us now as we now acknowledge this moment……
We will be back right after this.
Segment 4
Table Topic
Putting the mind to work for maximum gains
What does it mean to put the mind to work?
For some it can be solving a sudoku puzzle others it may be preparing for a big presentation or pushing one’s self to get one more rep in the gym.
The brain is a powerful organ but the mind is much more than just the brain.
The mind is defined as the elements in an individual that feels, perceives, thinks, wills and especially reasons.
The organized conscious and unconscious adaptive mental activity of an organism.
The mind can be trained, refined to our will if we can grasp the lesson.
Simple ways to train the mind.
Develop better habits.
What is something simple that you know if you started and did everyday that it would improve your life?
For me, this podcast was something I knew I wanted to share and I felt with the right materials I could do something everyday in perpetuity.
This podcast didn’t start out as, I want to have the most popular podcast out. Thought the idea is nice, I knew I would do this regardless of the accolades.
I wanted to build something special, that was meaningful to more than just me.
This podcast is really me scratching an itch.
An itch that is really paying off way more than I could have even imagined.
This is where the refinement comes in.
Since we have gotten about 40 episodes in more has been revealed in the process and I understand better the cadence of the show and have gotten a lot more involved in making it the best I can each and everyday.
I have also realized that I can bring you content everyday and yet give my mind rest if I think ahead as well. WE now do the podcast five days a week but still release prerecorded segments on the weekends for you.
Just like a muscle we are building the podcast, refining our oratory and connection with the listener and creating lasting change. This is a recipe for training the mind no matter what your craft or skill.
Scratch your own itch.
Start with something simple. Be consistent and never quit even if you fail many times.
We are reminded of The story of John Henry.
He had the strength of 15 men
