Lakara has been featured in numerous publications and television shows included The Oprah Winfrey Show. She's a native of New Orleans and holds a B.S. in Psychology and in Criminal Justice, and a M. Ed. in Counseling Education from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. Lakara also hosts a monthly poetry venue called The Brown Suga Vibe featuring the best spoken word, live music, and visual artistry in Atlanta. She's the self-published author of "The Day the Truth Was Told: Poetic Confessions of a Liar."
