Description

In the third episode of season four, I am joined by Fiona Kirkpatrick Parsons to overthink about ending the stigma.

We dive into:
• Valuing both mental and physical wellness
• The importance of volunteer work
• Supporting family who struggle with their mental health

Fiona is a proud Woodland Cree woman with Scottish settler heritage and a member of Lac La Ronge First Nation, Treaty 6 Territory in northern Saskatchewan, now living in beautiful Kjipuktuk, Mi'kma'ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia), on the unceded, traditional territory of the Mi'kmaq.

Fiona chaired the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, the largest multi-sport and cultural gathering in Atlantic Canada's history. She is married to Michael Parsons, PhD, a research scientist in the field of environmental geochemistry. They have one daughter, Ella, who is a student at Dalhousie University (Psychology major and Indigenous Studies minor).
